PERSISTENT VISION DOUBLE FEATURE: Scrapper // Remembering Guy

Coming up at the end of the month - the triumphant return of Persistent Vision cinema at the Mayfly!

This months’ instalment is a terrific double-bill: main feature ‘SCRAPPER’, a Sundance Grand Jury prize winning comedy-drama, preceded by the premiere screening of ‘REMEMBERING GUY’, a short documentary film by Meg Amsden, about the Lowestoft artist Guy Richardson.

Scrapper

‘A joyful comedy bubbling with hope.’

It’s said that it takes a village to raise a child but 12-year-old Georgie has other ideas. Living alone since her beloved mum died, Georgie fills the flat they shared with her own special magic. But when her absent father Jason turns up out of the blue, she’s forced to confront reality. A dreamy, witty and unmissable tale of family and fresh starts, SCRAPPER is a film that believes life’s not so much about chasing rainbows but snatching fistfuls in both hands.

Directed by Charlotte Regan.

Remembering Guy (Premiere Screening)

“A virtual version of the memorial tea-party put on by friends and admirers of Guy Richardson, Lowestoft artist, teacher and puppeteer. When he died in 2021 there was no public funeral and we felt the lack of an opportunity to celebrate his life and work and say goodbye, so we assembled a pile of his work and put on an exhibition. The film is not a record of the event but a recreation made up of stills, interviews, and movie clips, and featuring the voice of Guy himself recorded in 1980.” Meg Amsden
